Can You Use CBD When Pregnant?

Updated: Jul 19, 2022

Over the past few months, we’ve been advocating how safe CBD is to use — and we still vouch for it. But just how safe is it? We’ve previously stated that CBD can possibly relieve anxiety, pain, and other stressors, which would all be great to use if you’re pregnant. However, if you’re pregnant, you should obviously have concerns about how CBD use can affect your child and your pregnancy. In this blog, we’re going to find out whether or not you can use CBD when pregnant.

The Risks

You probably know that certain risk factors come into play when you take certain medications if you’re expecting. This may lead you to think that CBD should be completely safe to use as it’s not the same as most medications, and it doesn’t produce a high like marijuana and THC do. So is it completely safe to use CBD when pregnant? The FDA is currently studying the effects of CBD during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but the research is pretty primitive so far. Animal tests have shown problems in developing male fetuses, and experts suggest that some amounts of CBD can be transferred to babies through breastfeeding. As of this blog post, there is no research on the effects of CBD in human fetuses.

Weighing Your Options

So no one really knows what using CBD when pregnant will do to a human fetus, and the woes of pregnancy are leaving you tired and stressed. What should you do? Even if you’re a huge fan of CBD, you may want to consider the alternatives. There are many safe pain relievers you can buy over the counter, and there are countless stress remedies you can practice. If neither of those options are possible for you, you should ask your doctor what they think on the matter. Only they will be able to give the most accurate and helpful advice.

The Verdict

While we want everyone to enjoy CBD and everything it has to offer, we advise you to avoid using CBD when pregnant. There just isn’t enough research showing that it’s safe for fetuses, and the last thing we want is for your child to have any possible birth defects from our products. However, if you don’t plan on breastfeeding your child postpartum, then you can stock up on all the CBD you want when the time comes! When buying CBD products, be sure to choose Everly Heals for the best options around!
